George Gershwin is the quintessential American composer. His compositions, spanning both popular and classical genres, are universally enjoyed and admired. After his huge success on Broadway, he made an astonishing shift to orchestral and operatic classics. His music contains memorable melodies, fresh harmonies, and toe-tapping rhythms. Indeed, George Gershwin is considered America’s finest Broadway and classical composer.

“My Favorite Gershwin” will feature some of the composer’s best-known works, including several song transcriptions and excerpts from “Porgy & Bess” and “An American in Paris.” The program will culminate in a performance of his beloved “Rhapsody in Blue.”
