Jambalaya — A surprising title, indeed but, to surprise the audience is what this concert is all about!  With her personal style, voice, presence, and choice of repertoire, soprano Marie-Josée Lord delivers a gourmet recital where classical and popular music are gently entwined. Gershwin, Verdi, Bernstein, Lama, Bizet, and many other composers make up this special program that flows ever so naturally.  The result is so flavorful that you will be asking for seconds!  World-class Haitian-born Canadian soprano Marie-Josée Lord has performed the key roles in Porgy and Bess and La Bohème to great international acclaim. In 2005, Marie-Josée was the recipient of the Prix d’Excellence de la Culture, awarded by the Fondation de l’Opéra de Québec and was selected to represent Canada at the Cardiff Singer of World competition. She won the Public Prize at the Canadian Lyric Fund Competition and received the Raoul- Jobin Prize in 1998. Her first solo CD, which was recorded with the Orchestre Métropolitain under the baton of Giuseppe Pietraroia, won Marie-Josée Lord a Félix in the category Album of the year — classical vocal in 2011 and got a JUNO nomination.  Marie-Josée has performed on radio, television, and at prestigious venues across North America. Her intense and flamboyant personality and international-caliber performance will fill the theater when she takes the stage of the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium.
